These are the step-by-step instructions on how to complete Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 story mission Dark Water:

How to Complete Dark Water Mission in Modern Warfare 2 (2022)

You start the twelfth mission Dark Water on the open sea, approaching the huge oil rig. After boarding it you will need to follow your squad on the platforms. Open the door, but be careful about the enemy behind the second door, and the one to the right. Go through the room and up the stairs on the left.

Your second team will be on the right. You have the whole gang here, they will help you take down the guards. Follow Alejandro Vargas up the stairs, and be careful about all the enemies around. Take them down quickly.

Go to the right and approach the door on the main deck. Clear all the enemies inside the room and make your way through the rest of the oil rig. The flare will go off, make sure to take down the enemies above first. You can also use some red explosive barrels to get rid of larger groups of enemies.

Clear your path and go to the opposite side of the platforms, and hide behind containers while shooting at the enemies not to get hit. Go up the stairs or up the ladder, and clear enemies in the closed-off areas. You can also use flashbangs here effectively throwing them off surfaces at different angles to surprise the enemy.

Go up the platform where you will find a blue container. Open it by pressing Square on the PlayStation. You will find controls are not there and you'll need to make your way to the ship. Rappel down the rope onto one of your boats.

Your goal is to secure the controls and stop the missiles. Your boat will crash into the huge ship. But you will get on board. Eliminate all enemies on board of the huge ship, and be careful of the moving containers as the ship is moving on huge waves from side to side.

Move forward and shoot your way through the waves of enemies. Use the containers to your advantage! You can also use side tunnels that go under to reach the top of the ship and the main deck.

Go up the stairs and breach the ship structure with explosives. Once again use Square on PlayStation to interact with the door and plant the explosive charges.

Stand back so you do not get hit by your own explosion. After breaching the door go inside the ship and take out everyone in sight. Make your way onto the second deck by using the red stairs. There will be a lot of enemies behind corners so watch out for them. Clear the area and move forward.

Go up another flight of stairs to the main office and where the ship is controlled from. You need to secure the package in the green box. You need to disarm the missiles! Something is wrong and you need to do this manually with Graves.

You cannot stop the missiles from launching but you can detonate them before they hit the target. You can redirect them to the oil rig where you started the mission.

How to do the Controls Puzzle in Dark Water Mission Modern Warfare 2:

Press both Square and Circle at the same time (CLR and MODE buttons). Then you need to press down on the d-pad on PlayStation. The Letter C like Charlie is the answer here. Finally Press X on the PlayStation controller to execute the change of missiles target.
