Kokomi will be having a rerun with Raiden Shogun in the 2.5 Version of Genshin Impact. She has a Healer role and can be used to place down her E jellyfish for heals and for Hydro application. You can build her for her powerful healing, and I would not recommend using her as a Main DPS due to her inability to CRIT. The materials she requires are below:

The Hellfire Butterfly is earned through defeating the weekly boss La Signora, giving 1 or 2 each time at higher levels, while the Dew of Repudiation required for leveling is obtained from the Hydro Hypostasis, the world boss in Watatsumi Island. The Spectral Nucleus is used to level Kokomiand her talents and is dropped by Specters (the floating type slimes). Her talent books required are Philosophies of Transience, which can be obtained in the Violet Court Domain. She uses Sango pearl as her leveling material.

This article will introduce you to the weapons and artifacts to use on Kokomi, as well as the party setup you can use with her. I will include options for free-to-play players, as well as beginners.

Kokomi Weapons

Kokomi works best with HP weapons. You can use the weapons below:

 kokomi weapons

The Everlasting Moonglow catalyst is the best option for Kokomi but isn't really needed for her to do her job as a good Hydro applicator and healer. Additionally, Everlasting Moonglow can't be used on other characters so I suggest you save your wishes for something else! The passive of the Everlasting Moonglow increases Healing Bonus by 10% and increases Normal ATK DMG by 1% of Maximum HP. For 12s after using an elemental burst, normal attacks that hit enemies will restore 0.6 Energy, which can occur every 0.1s.

Alternatively, you can use the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers for increased ATK by 24% for 10s when switching characters, which can occur every 20s. This can go up to 48% increased ATK if this weapon is at Refinement Rank 5, which is rather insane if used properly.

You can also use the Prototype Amber as the Elemental Burst regenerates 4 energy every 2s for 6s. All party members will regenerate 4% HP every 2s for this duration. I would recommend this weapon over the TTDS if you have characters that are glass cannons/take a lot of damage and you don't have shield characters on your team. Otherwise, the buff from TTDS is better overall.

These weapons are very friendly for F2P players since the last 2 are 3-star weapons and it is easy to obtain Refinement Rank 5 of them.

Kokomi Artifacts

Kokomi should use a 4-set of Ocean-Hued Clam. The 2-set increases the Healing bonus by 15%. For the 4-set, when the character healing heals a character in the party, HP recovered from healing and overflowed HP will accumulate for 3 seconds. Thereafter, DMG will be dealt to opponents based on 90% of the heals. This can only occur once every 3.5s and a maximum of 30,000 HP can be accumulated, including overflowed healing. This effect can be triggered when the healer character is off-field.

The Ocean-Hued Clam set can be obtained from the Slumbering Court Domain. For a guide on completing the domain, you can click here

The stats and sub-stats that you should prioritise are as below:

  • Flower sub-stats: HP, Energy Recharge%
  • Feather sub-stats: HP%, HP, Energy Recharge%
  • Watch stat: HP%
  • Goblet stat: Hydro DMG Bonus
  • Mask stat: Healing Bonus%

Kokomi Talents

The best order to upgrade your talents is below.

Kurage's Oath > Nereid's Ascension > The Shape of Water

Party Setup

Common team compositions are either Permafreeze or the Sukokomon setup. With Permafreeze, you will need a Cryo damage dealer (Ayaka, Ganyu), Kokomi as a healer and hydro applicator, an Anemo character typically to group enemies (Venti, Kazuha, Sucrose) and another Cryo applicator if it helps (Diona, Rosaria). You can choose to have 2 Cryo damage dealers if you prefer.

Alternatively, Sukokomon comprises Sucrose, Kokomi, Xiangling, Fischl for many continuous elemental reactions and Sucrose to group enemies together. Of course, you can replace Sucrose with other Anemo crowd control characters, or Xiangling and Fischl for other Sub-DPS characters.

Conclusion

Overall, despite the backlash that Kokomi got when she was initially released, her kit works wonders as a Hydro Applicator and insane Healer. She can be used in a variety of team compositions and her flexibility as a Hydro applicator makes her a useful addition. Kokomi definitely isn't a must-have character but can carry you if you don't have a shield and struggle to stay alive in challenging combat.
