Here we will dive into the potential plot points and characters that may feature in this Devil May Cry 5 sequel.

What To Expect In The New Devil May Cry 6?

After Devil May Cry 5's massive success ever since its release in 2019, after passing 5 million copies and being held to a high reception by a plethora of fans, many have been anticipating what is next for the franchise.

Calls for a prequel that will allow players to control Dante and Vergil's father Sparda, to gain more of a backstory in the buildup to his assumed death and give fans more of an insight into the twins' early life.

Aside from the potential of a prequel being in the works, it is more likely that Devil May Cry 6 will cover the events in the present day and after the ending of 5, which could either introduce a new character entirely or follow up Dante and Vergil's journey after destroying the Qlithoth Roots.

Whilst there aren't any indications as to what the story may entail, many will assume that gameplay and the majority of its portions will once again revolve around the three characters and their latest adventures in slaying demons.

As for new weapons, movesets, and character designs, based on the transitions among all of the titles particularly between 4 and 5, these will most likely be subject to change with the 6.

The change in character designs and actors may also be dependent on the generation change, and how far of a leap there is in the game's graphical prowess.

When Will Devil May Cry 6 Be Released?

With Capcom's focus central to both Resident Evil and Street Fighter, and Devil May Cry's director Hideaki Itsuno focusing on the next Dragon's Dogma installment, fans should not expect any news or reveal for Devil May Cry 6 anytime soon.

Going by the usual gap between each game's release, it is likely a new game will be set for release in 2025 or 2026, but depending on how quickly the studio's next few titles may release, an announcement at the very least could suffice.

Just as the Resident Evil 4 Remake was revealed earlier this year, fans will assume that the project would have been in the works for years, before Capcom could finally showcase the title. In this case, the circumstances are much different as fans have a lot more titles from their popular franchises to digest first before any talk of the new Devil May Cry 6.

Despite the game's development not being confirmed, fans will be certain that this is in mind for creators at Capcom as they will intend to revisit the franchise that has grown at a rapid rate over the last few years.
