Preview of Gorou

Gorou, the General of the Inazuman Resistance, is the newest 4-star character to be released in the 2.3 Version. He has a Support role and brings lots of potential to a full Geo party team if you like using the Geo element. You should try to stack as much DEF% on him as possible, but you can try to increase his ER% such that he can use his Ultimate more. The materials he requires are below:

 gorou materials

The Molten Moment is earned through defeating the new weekly boss La Signora, giving 1 or 2 each time at higher levels, while the Perpetual Heart required for levelling is obtained from the Perpetual Mechanical Array, the same as Ayaka's ascension material. The Spectral Husk is used to level Gorou and his talents and is dropped by Specters typically found on Watatsumi Island and Seirai Island. His talent books required are Philosophies of Light, which can be obtained in the Violet Court Domain. He uses Sango Pearl as his levelling material.

This article will introduce you to the weapons and artifacts to use on Gorou, as well as the party setup you can use with him. I will include options for free to play players, as well as beginners.

Weapons

Gorou works best with Energy Recharge sub-stat weapons. You can use the weapons below:

 gorou weapons

The Favonius Warbow is a good choice for Gorou. The passive of the Favonius Warbow allows for CRIT Hits to have a chance to generate elemental orbs that regenerate energy for the character. Increased energy enables Gorou to perform his Ultimate more often, which is helpful since his energy cost for his Ultimate is 80.

Alternatively, you can use the Elegy for the End which increases Elemental Mastery by 60 and has a maximum of 4 stacks. It increases EM by another 100 at Refinement Rank 1 after 4 stacks has been achieved and increases ATK by 20%.

Most players will also have the Sacrificial Bow, with an ER sub-stat. After damaging an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 40% chance to end its own CD, which can only occur once every 30s.

For F2P Players, I would recommend Favonius Warbow most, compared to the craftable weapons (Prototype Crescent, Compound Bow, Hamayumi). It's ER sub-stat is very helpful and the craftable weapons aren't really meant for support bow characters.

Artifacts

Gorou should use a 4-set of Husk of Opulent Dreams as it increases DEF by 30% and grants up to 4 stacks of 6% increased DEF and 6% more Geo DMG Bonus. When 6 seconds pass without gaining a stack, 1 stack is lost.

 husk of opulent dreams

The Husk of Opulent Dreams set can be obtained from the Slumbering Court Domain, you can refer to this guide on how to complete the domain!

The stats and sub-stats that you should prioritise are as below:

  • Flower sub-stats: DEF% and ER%
  • Feather sub-stats: DEF% and ER%
  • Watch stat: DEF% or ER%
  • Goblet stat: Geo DMG Bonus (can be any artifact set, as long as the main stat is Electro DMG), OR DEF% to increase
  • Mask stat: DEF%

For beginners, you can use the Exile's Set. The 2-Piece Bonus grants Energy Recharge +20%, while the 4-Piece Bonus causes the Elemental Burst to regenerate 2 Energy for all party members (excluding the wearer) every 2s for 6s. This effect cannot stack.

Talents

The best order to upgrade your talents is below.

Inazuka All-Round Defense > Juuga: Forward Unto Victory > Ripping Fang Fletching

Since Gorou is a support, you do not need to level his Normal attack.

Party Setup

With Gorou as a Support, you should use several more Geo characters as your Sub DPS such as Albedo/Zhongli for greater DMG or decreased Geo RES. Using a Geo character as your Main DPS (Itto, Ningguang) is helpful as well, since Gorou increases Geo DMG Bonus.

Conclusion

Overall, Gorou seems to be a dedicated Geo Support character that buffs DEF and Geo DMG Bonus, someone that you should definitely get if you enjoy Geo characters playstyles.
